What is the game room?
The Game Room is the place to be if you like any kind of video game. It’s a room filled with big projection- and TV-screens displaying a wide array of video games.
The available games differ from old school 8 and 16-bit classics to the brand new Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games; from simple puzzle games to intense fighting games and from relaxing fishing games to extreme race games. There’s bound to be a game that will get you hooked. Wii guarantee it!
We also invite you to bring your own handheld game system, like your Nintendo DS(i) or PSP, so you can challenge other visitors to play your favourite handheld game. Obviously, other handhelds like your Virtual Boy, Atari Lynx or Sega Game Gear are welcome as well.
We are proud to say that we are the first anime convention to feature real arcade machines in our Game Room! In the past we brought you a pump it up machine, and right now we feature multiple arcade cabinets featuring both old and new games! (quarters not required; free play for everyone).
Where can I find this “Game Room”?
The Game Room is located at the hotel’s 4th Floor, you can either follow the hotel's signs to the Mysteriezaal or the maps to the Game Room located near all major exits and elevators. Either that, or use an IR scope to find the hottest room in the convention (in more ways than one).
Competitions and Signup
What are games without a little competition you say? Well you are correct, a game is twice as fun if you can brag about how you beat your opponent in a 162-Hit combo on Marvel VS Capcom or how you were two laps ahead of him by the time he finished.
There will be multiple game contests hosted in and around the Game Room during Anime 2011 and of course we will give you the opportunity to show of your skills at DDR. All visitors are free to join any and all competitions of their choice for a chance to win fabulous prizes.
For most competitions it is required to sign-up before the competition starts. You can find the sign-up sheets at the entrance of the Game Room. For the Dance Dance Revolution competitions, you can find the sign-up sheets in the Dance Dance Revolution Room.
Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)
A regular to every convention these days, Dance Dance Revolution has been a part of our convention and the Game Room for years now, and we are glad to say that it will have its own room again this year! This will be located on the hotel's 3rd Floor in the Vondelzaal. You will be able to play DDR with up to 6 players simultaneously on many old and new songs. Did we mention this room has air conditioning? So you can DDR all you like without passing out of the smell from the player next to you!
Restrictions
The usual rules apply. So, please leave your bags, food and drinks outside of the Game Room. Please note that the no-smoking policy is also in affect in the Game Room.
Since the Game Room is usually pretty warm, please do not forget to use deodorant when needed. ;)
