Dubbing in the Netherlands

An informative lecture on the world of dubbing in the Netherlands, hosted by Mr. Barnier Geerling.

This informative lecture on the voice-over process is hosted by Mr. Barnier Geerling. Barnier is a passionate voice actor, director and producer. He lends his voice to fictional characters on a daily basis. Barnier Geerling entered the world of voice-overs at a young age, dubbing an assortment audiovisual productions. As both a voice director and a voice actor, he knows both sides of the trade. Barnier attended the School of Audio Engineering (SAE), amongst others. During and after his studies, he worked at several different recording studios. In 1999, he founded iam studios (http://iam-studios.nl/), one of the most modern audio post production studios in the Netherlands. Because very little information on the trade was available to budding new voice actors at the time, and in order to contribute to the improvement of quality of the Dutch voice industry, he decided to translate his experience into a workshop. In 2000, he was the first professional in the Netherlands to launch a workshop specifically directed at the art of dubbing. Today, he's successfully trained a few thousand students. You may recognize Barnier's voice from various commercials, informative corporate videos and games. He usually lends his voice to villains in cartoons, but in reality he's a pretty nice guy. Works of fiction you may spot him in are Big Hero 6, Bob the Builder, Peanut & Pickle, Get Blake, Ultimate Spiderman, Hulk & the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Hocus Pocus with Alfond Alfrink.
