What is the game room?

The Game Room is the place to be if you like any kind of video game. It’s a room filled with big projection-and TV-screens displaying a wide array of video games.

The available games differ from classic old school 8 and 16-bit systems to the current generation of Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games; from simple puzzle games to intense fighting games and from relaxing fishing games to extreme race games we have it all. There’s bound to be a game that will get you hooked, Wii guarantee it!

We also invite you to bring your own handheld game system, like your Nintendo DS(i) or PSP, so you can challenge other visitors to play your favorite handheld game. Obviously, other handhelds like your Virtual Boy, Atari Lynx or Sega Game Gear are welcome as well.

What can you find in the Game Room?

A wide selection of the newest games around, and sometimes we even have games that aren't even released yet. We were the first public event to feature games like Rock Band, Super Smash Bros Brawl and more!

Pachinko:

What is pachinko? Pachinko is a Japanese gaming device used for amusement and gambling. A pachinko machine resembles a vertical pinball machine, but with no flippers and a large number of relatively small balls. The player fires a ball up into the machine, controlling only its initial speed. The ball then cascades down through a dense forest of pins. In most cases, the ball falls to the bottom and is lost, but if it instead goes into certain pockets, more balls are released as a jackpot. These balls can then be traded for money or prizes at a nearby location.

And wouldn't you know it, the Game Room actually owns some of these fine machines! We are the only convention (and probably place) in The Netherlands where you can enjoy these great machines, free of charge of course!

Arcade Games:

Arcades, for some a sweet memory of the glory days, for others it's just something totally alien to them since they grew up with some of the more modern home consoles and only know them from that one store around the corner that has a 20 year old machine that hasn't been working for ages.
No matter to which of these groups you belong you'll love our arcade machines we have some great classic gems, some Asian machines and even a photoplay for you casual gamers!

Try out the fighting games of the glory days with real arcade controls, our just relax with a fun puzzle game, the choice is yours!

Whacky games!

We've got some whacky games you probably haven't even heard of!
Drum on the beat with Taiko no Tasujin! This great drum games has been a #1 hit in Japan for years! Hit the drums to catchy tunes ranging from your favourite anime ost to Japan's greatest hits! Or how about a 4 player version of Pac-Man? Para Para Paradise? Rock Band? We have games you can't even imagine!

Where can I find this “Game Room”?

The Game Room is located at the hotel’s ground floor just right of the main entrance. Just follow the noise and you'll find us!

Mobile Game Room:

Too lazy to come to the Game Room? Crumbled under the weight of your cosplays immensely oversized sword? Or just stuck in the never ending line to the dealerroom? Have no fear! The mobile Game Room will find you! During the entire convention we will be walking around with a mobile setup of Nintendo DS gaming systems and you will be able to select a game of your choice and battle on the spot, be it in line, in the hallways or in the elevator! And the best part? You can even win prizes!

Competitions and Signup

What are games without a little competition you say? Well you are correct, a game is twice as fun if you can brag about how you beat your opponent in a 265-Hit combo on Marvel VS Capcom 3 or how you were two laps ahead of him in Mario Kart by the time he finished.
There will be multiple game contests hosted in and around the Game Room during Anime 2011 and of course we will give you the opportunity to show off your skills at DDR. All visitors are free to join any and all competitions of their choice for a chance to win fabulous prizes.

For most competitions it is required to sign-up before the competition starts. You can find the sign-up sheets at the entrance of the Game Room. Be sure to bring your friends (to rub it in their faces how you beat them!).

Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)

A regular to just about every convention under the sun these days, Dance Dance Revolution has been a part of our convention and the Game Room for years now and it's still as popular as ever! This year's DDR setup will be on the hotel's ground floor (so you can conserve your precious energy to show off your DDR skills!). You can play simultaneously with your friends on many old and new songs!

Restrictions

The usual rules apply. So, please leave your bags, food and drinks outside of the Game Room. Please note that the no-smoking policy is also in affect in the Game Room.
Since the Game Room is usually pretty warm, please do not forget to use deodorant when needed....
