Kendo Kai Higashi

Kendo Kai Higashi is a friendly dojo community where we practice several ancient forms of Japanese martial arts together. We originally started out as a school that only practiced Kendo, but have since grown to hold three more amazing disciplines that honor the old Samurai traditions. During our workshops, we will teach you some of the basics of these great forms of art in a relaxing and easy to learn environment. If you are interested, please feel free to stop by and sign up at our stand at the Event Plaza!

Iaido "drawing the sword",

Founded by the legendary Hayashizaki Jinsuke Shigenobu in order to revenge his father's death, he devised a series of Iaijutsu techniques to quickly dispatch of his enemies. As such an experienced Iaidoka is able to strike down several foes with a well-orchestrated strike. Due to its deadly capacities, discipline is of absolute importance when practicing Iajutsu's. You will be able to witness and experience this for yourself during our demonstration and workshop.

Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo is the art of the "Jo".

More commonly known as the wooden stick. Its lethal techniques are often underestimated. It has led to the demise of many famous samurai, such as Miyamoto Musashi. A Jodoka is especially effective against a swordsman, due to the ability to instantly switch from offence to defense and back at a high frequency.
