Kyaraben (Character Bento) workshop

- About Bento and Kyaraben
Bento is a lunchbox in Japanese style as you know. Kyaraben, a shortened form of Character Bento is a booming bento which features food decorated to look like popular characters. Originally, Kyaraben was intended to interest Japanese children in their food and to encourage a wider range of eating habits. It has now evolved to the point where national contests are held, and kyaraben is introduced as one of a new Japanese culture in outside of Japan.

- Bento design at workshop
At this workshop, participants learn authentic Japanese techniques from a Japanese Noriko Aoki. The bento design will be Luna and Artemis for Sailor Moon's 20th Anniversary. And of course participants can take their results home.

- About Lecturer
Noriko is a Japanese manga artist and food artist. She was born and brought up in Tokyo. Graduated Musashino art college, Tokyo. During her life in Tokyo, she worked as a professional Manga-ka, 16 bit Game designer and UX designer of Nokia Japan. She moved to the Netherlands because she got married with Dutch man. In the Netherlands, she provides manga design, bento and authentic Japanese activities based on her real Japanese experiences.

- Restrictions and notifications
-- Making kyaraben contains many kind of side dishes and detailed
tasks. Team work is needed because we will divide the work for the
-- Participants must wash their hands and must watch their hygiene.
-- Must be clean and simple outfit for cooking. No excessive cosplay please.

'The usual rules apply. Our event room's capacity will be limited to a certain amount of people, so please show up early! Once the room is deemed full by our security staff we will not allow any more people in, unless others decide to leave.
To participate, we will ask a small fee of 10 Euro. A ticket for this event can be bought at the infodesk.
