Calligraphy is the Japanese (and Chinese, and even Western) art of writing. Of course with Japanese Calligraphy (and Chinese Calligraphy, which are almost identical), characters are writting rather than English words. This traditional kind of writing can even be seen as painting, because a brush is used and characters are made to look as beautiful as possible. Normally a master makes a work of art out of a word, and students copy this art until it perfectly duplicates the master's version. So don't worry if you don't know any Japanese, you will get an example on paper and the teachers from Ambaran Artgroup will explain and help you write it. Do you want to create a nice piece of traditional art? Visit the Calligraphy Workshop.
