Fanfiction 101

Fanfiction... Maybe you've vaguely heard of it, maybe you read it on a daily basis, maybe you've even written some yourself! There's no denying that fanfiction plays a large role in fan culture. In this lecture, Meowzy will share all that she's learned over the past sixteen years of fanfic writing. You'll hear about the do's, the don'ts and the tropes.

Corinne "Meowzy" Lamerichs first truly started writing fanfiction in 2004, gaining a name in the Tales of Symphonia fandom for her outrageously bad, farfetched and occasionally funny stories. Now, in the year 2020, she's an accomplished author of both elaborate fanfiction and original fiction that she published online. Learning to write compelling English stories isn't an easy path, especially when the author is born and raised in a non-English speaking country. With her sixteen years of experience, Meowzy has some tips and tricks to share on how to improve one's writing. In a mere half hour, she'll cover what exactly fanfiction is, how to get started and which pitfalls to avoid.
